Broadus 4 Congress 6368 Coventry Way, #122 Clinton, MD 20735 Also, take a closer look at the denominations of money (CLICK TO ENLARGE). These are examples of REAL MONEY Silver Certificates and Gold Certificates were used as U.S. Currency in the past, and could be traded for that amount of each precious metal. They actually represented the specified amount of Silver or Gold that was held by the bank for you to collect when needed. Today, we use Federal Reserve Notes, which are simply "fiat money." They are only worth what the Fed says they are worth, and their value lessens every time the Fed prints more money. Gas rose to over $4 per gallon because we allow speculation on the dollar's value. The Constitution gives the Congress the enumerated power to coin money and regulate the value thereof--not any other branch of government, and not a private bank like the Federal Reserve. As your Congressman, I will move to return the U.S. Mint to Congress' jurisdiction, and to ensure that all U.S. Currency is backed by sound resources that are not subject to speculation or inflation.
NOTE: FEC Regulations are much stricter than those for State or Local campaigns, limiting donations to $2300 per individual. Federal law requires that all donations come from U.S. Citizens, and should be accompanied by name and mailing address. Donations may be used solely for the purpose of this campaign, and not for my personal use or for my friends and family. Relatives who donate to a candidate's campaign are subject to the same donation limits as other donors, so I cannot fund my campaign through a wealthy spouse or uncle. Any funds not spent may only be used to settle debts of the campaign, donated to other campaigns, or transferred for use in a future campaign. Otherwise, leftover funds will be returned to the donors or the Treasury.
